Terms & Medical Disclaimer

A gentle note before you begin.

Last updated: 15 June 2026

Breathlessness Support is designed to feel calm, reassuring, and helpful. These short terms set out what it is — and what it is not — so that you can use it with confidence.

An educational resource

Breathlessness Support is an educational resource. It is intended to help people understand breathlessness and learn practical techniques that may support recovery and everyday life.

Not a diagnostic tool

Breathlessness Support is not a diagnostic tool. It does not provide individual medical advice and is not a substitute for assessment, diagnosis, or treatment by a qualified healthcare professional. If you have concerns about your health, please speak with your GP or another clinician who knows you.

When to seek urgent help

If you experience severe, sudden, or worsening symptoms — including sudden breathlessness, chest pain, or difficulty speaking — please seek appropriate urgent medical attention without delay. In the UK, call 999 or go to your nearest emergency department.

Information provided in good faith

The information shared through Breathlessness Support is provided in good faith and is based on respected sources in respiratory physiology and rehabilitation. We cannot, however, guarantee that every piece of information is complete or suitable for every individual circumstance.
